Of Neptune The Syrena Legacy Anna Banks Books
Of Neptune concludes Anna Banks' Syrena Legacy trilogy and it was quite the read! Granted, it feels like it's been forever since I've read Of Triton, so my memory was pretty much shot in that area, but luckily there were enough reminders of what has already happened, the important details at least.Emma and Galen are going on a trip to get away from it all...everything, they deserve the break. But when Emma's grandfather suggests a town to visit, Emma is shocked to discover the little town of Neptune is filled with Half-Breeds, just like her. Emma is fascinated with everything and everyone around her. Galen, not so much. Mostly because their tour guide is Reed, another Half-Breed who seems to like Emma a lot!
When Emma and Galen get into an argument, Galen leaves Neptune but it waylaid by an enemy who decides to hold him hostage, while Emma is left in Reed's capable hands. I got to tell you, that was one of the most extreme points of the story with Emma and Galen separated and each one thinking the worst! Emma thinks Galen is mad at her and doesn't want anything more to do with her and all other sorts of insecurities enter her mind. Galen is concerned because she's still in Neptune where enemies are in hiding. So yeah, definitely intense!
I felt very suspicious of Reed and basically the whole Neptune town. It was like Stepford or something. It wasn't overly perfect, but the community was very tight-knit, to the point you think they're hiding something. Think of the Skins in Roswell, Season 2. When Liz and the gang go to see the senator's family to pay their "respects" for her death and all. They were an obvious shady bunch and that is exactly the feeling in had with the residents of Neptune.
I was sad to see that Toraf and Rayna weren't there but for the last few chapters because they were always an enjoyable pair! Especially Toraf and his antics, I loved that guy! It's so weird to read this book that's considered YA for our characters are now 19 and 21, but yet, saying it's a New Adult seems off. Especially with what other New Adult books contain, but regardless, this definitely fits the YA bill in terms of content. The romance between Emma and Galen--for the beginning at least--is sweet, since they're trying to wait until their mating ceremony. But these two are going to have a lot of obstacles to tackle in this book. And it's entirely possible they might not even make it to the mating ceremony.
Of Neptune was the perfect kind of series ender! There's questions thrown about regarding everyone's fate; there's action, romance, humor, suspense! What more could you ask for in your read? And I must say I was quite happy with how it ended. It does definitely ring of a final tone, but yet, there's a kind of peacefulness to it all that makes it a most enjoyable read!

Of Neptune The Syrena Legacy Anna Banks Books Reviews
I loved the cliff hangers. Some of the characters became obnoxious over time- Emma’s character has become too whiny for me after three books- and a lot of the pages were just Galen getting beat up. The conclusion was my least favorite of the three books so far although it left the possibility for other books. I mostly enjoyed it- and the sarcasm had me laughing at times. I sure if I’d read more in this series but fans of the previous books should give it ago.
Going into this book, I had some serious reservations because of two things one, it is the last book in a trilogy (which I have tended to hate) and two, the last book ended pretty well. Despite my fears, I dived right into this book and came out absolutely loving it! The plot is that Emma and Galen finally get a chance to go away together, and they take a trip to the mountains, but King Antonis gives them a last minute specific place to go. When they arrive, they find another half-breed like Emma - but not just one; an entire town of them! Naturally, Emma and Galen have some differing opinions about what to do with the information, and it leads to their biggest fight ever.
This book had lots of twists and turns that I wasn't expecting, and it was really well written. My only complaint is that there wasn't enough Toraf and Rayna, and Galen and Emma were separated for too much of the story. Other than those minor details, I really liked this conclusion, and I'm sure I'll be reading it a million more times!
I was so excited for this book! I felt like I waited forever to get it. I started it and was drawn in immediately. Things have changed since Emma was accepted by the Syrena. Her and Galen can be together! But ever since Rachel died Galen has been different. He's quite and Emma knows he hasn't properly grieved for her. So they take a trip! Which Emmas Grandfather so nicely directs them to a town called Neptune. This town is special. Why you ask? Because if is full of half-breeds. Emma is not the only one and she's not the only one with gifts. This changes things. Emma feels like she belongs here and the new guy (Reed) is very kind. Emma is presented with a choice. Could she live here and feel like she belongs? Would Galen stay too or is she destined to be with someone else?
The other characters were not in this book much. I missed Toraf and Rayna! They were a couple of my favorites. They were in the end and a few other chapters but, I missed them. Maybe we will get some of their stories in the future. That would be great!!
We get to see some of Galen's POV in this one, which was great. Since him and Emma's relationship is struggling. A lot of which could have been fixed with simple communication. Unfortunately, they are in the middle of a power struggle and are separated. Galen goes through a lot and it helps him to realize how he feels about Emma. If only he could get away and talk to her but, will she feel the same? Has he lost her to people who are just like her?
Emma kind of drove me nuts in places. She was thinking Galen was smothering her and that he was being selfish to ask her to live int he ocean with him. Not only that but, she lets Reed distract her. I am so not a fan of love triangles!! I really don't like them. I liked Reed but, I thought it was unnecessary to the story. It takes a while for her to realize that she screwed up. I was like "Um, yea hello"!!! If she would have just talked with Galen a lot of their pain and suffering could have been avoided. Emma needs to come to her senses but, will she do it in time? What if Galen doesn't survive? O_o
I am sad to see this series end but, I am ok with the ending. Thank goodness there was an epilogue! I got to the last page and was like NOOO!! Another series is done. Always a sad day for me.
